The primer

This category is filled with hype, but a small number of ingredients have credible human evidence. Ashwagandha stands out: multiple RCTs show it lowers cortisol, improves stress-related fatigue, and modestly improves markers linked to vitality and libido in men and women. Maca has traditional use and some trial support for libido, independent of hormone changes. Zinc is essential for normal testosterone and fertility — but supplementing only helps if you're actually deficient (a blood test is worth doing). L-arginine and its more bioavailable cousin L-citrulline support nitric-oxide production and blood flow. Fenugreek and Tribulus have mixed data. Underneath the supplement question: sleep, resistance training, body composition, and managing chronic stress and alcohol intake move the needle far more than any capsule. If you have persistent low libido, erectile issues, or hormonal symptoms, see a doctor first — many treatable underlying causes exist.
